What Are the Technical Requirements for Stainless Steel Castings?

Ⅰ. Large stainless steel castings

For large castings, stainless steel is generally used. This material is familiar to many people. Compared with other materials, stainless steel has many advantages. Stainless steel castings have high requirements in terms of shape design and mold making. Although some products seem to be easy to cast, they also have strict requirements in terms of manufacturability.

Ⅱ. Process requirements for stainless steel castings

1. The parting surface must be flat

The parting surface of the sand casting stainless steel must be flat, and the flashing and burrs of the castings should be avoided as much as possible. Castings must be protected against small errors and have good strength. Even for products produced in small batches, simple split-mold shapes must be used.

2. Improve the boss and rib structure

When many stainless steel castings are on the boss, they often get out of the mold. After narrowing the distance between the boss and the back, it can be better extended to the parting surface, so that we can take out the model more conveniently. In this way, not only the process is simplified, but the workmanship is also very convenient.

3. Avoid external undercut

Like steel sand casting, stainless steel castings must avoid undercut conditions, and they must be modified in time. Otherwise, this may affect the subsequent normal use, and also cause quality problems and unusable castings.

Regarding the process requirements of stainless steel castings, there are many details that need to be paid attention to. For the manufacturer, it is necessary to carefully understand the relevant details, otherwise the quality of the castings out of the casting will be unqualified, which will cause a lot of losses.
